Stop Playing When It Comes to Your Peace
Stop playing when it comes to your peace.
When somebody has shown you who they are
over and over again, believe them.
Sometimes you already know you
shouldn't deal with somebody,
but time passes and you decide to give
the relationship another chance.
You think maybe things will be different.
Then they come back worse.
More drama. More mess.
More getting into things
that have nothing to do with them.
More running their mouth.
More trying to find out
what's going on in your life.
And eventually you're sitting there thinking,
This is exactly why I stopped dealing with you.
That's when you leave it alone.
For real.
You gave it another chance.
You didn't go into it looking for a problem.
You genuinely wanted to see
if the relationship could be different.
It wasn't.
That's enough.
But some people don't know how
to accept when somebody is done with them.
Now they want to argue.
Now they want to justify everything they've done.
Now they want to point fingers.
They start calling people, stirring up drama and
bringing other people into something
that had nothing to do with them.
Anything to avoid taking accountability.
And when they realize you're serious
about your absence this time,
they may go even harder.
Because before, you came back.
They think you'll do it again.
They think the title
is going to save the relationship.
That's your mother.
That's your brother.
That's your sister.
That's family.
Nope.
Miss me with that shit.
A title doesn't make me ignore behavior.
Especially when I've already
seen it more than once.
There comes a time when
you have to stop allowing people
back into your life simply because
you're related to them or
because you've known them for years.
Some people do not mean you well.
That's just the truth.
And when your spirit keeps telling you
to stay away from somebody,
pay attention.
I believe in discernment.
I've ignored mine before.
I've given another chance
when something in me
was already telling me not to.
Then I saw exactly why I felt the way I did.
I don't need to keep learning that lesson.
I don't need another incident.
I don't need another argument.
I don't need another person showing me
for the fifth time what I already saw the first four.
Stop playing when it comes to your peace.
You don't have to hate anybody
to keep them away from you.
You don't have to wish them bad.
You don't have to spend
your time talking about them.
Just leave them alone.
And if they decide to create more drama
because you've removed yourself,
let them.
Don't allow somebody else's
reaction to your absence
pull you right back into the mess
you walked away from.
Some people will point fingers because
looking at themselves would
require too much honesty.
Let them point.
Some will tell their version.
Let them tell it.
Some will be mad because they finally
realize you aren't coming back this time.
Let them be mad.
You already gave the relationship another chance.
You already saw what came with it.
You don't need to keep proving anything.
There are people who simply
should not be around you.
Not in your home.
Not around your family.
Not close enough to know your business.
Not close enough to interfere
with what you have going on.
Keep them away from you.
Your peace is too important to
keep gambling with it
because somebody has a title.
When your spirit has already warned you and
their behavior keeps confirming it,
stop going back.
Leave them right where they are.
And keep moving.
Everybody isn't going to be happy for you.
Everybody isn't going to understand
why certain doors are closed.
And everybody doesn't need to.
When you know you're blessed,
when you know you're favored,
and when you know you've worked
too hard for the life you're building,
be careful about what you allow near it.
Not everybody needs to know what's next.
Not everybody needs
a front-row seat to what is happening in your life.
Some things deserve to be enjoyed
without certain people anywhere near them.
So don't block your blessings trying to
make room for people your spirit
keeps telling you to stay away from.
This is your safe space.
You’re always welcome here.
