Character Sabotage
One thing I’ve learned is that when some people lose access to you, they don’t always lose interest in talking about you.
I’ve learned to dismiss it.
To dismiss them.
I don’t sit around wondering who’s saying my name or what story is being told this week. Life is too short for that. What I’ve noticed, though, is that bitterness has a way of exposing itself.
A bitter tongue doesn’t just reveal how someone feels about you. It reveals what’s living inside of them.
When someone spends their time gossiping, twisting your character, or trying to convince other people to see you differently, they’re not revealing your heart. They’re revealing their own.
I’ve come to realize that some people will reach out to those you no longer associate with, bringing your name into conversations, just because they feel some type of way about you.
Some might carry resentment, a refusal to let go, I don’t know. And honestly, I don’t need to know.
What I do know is this:
A person at peace doesn’t need to build connections through gossip.
People who are secure don’t feel the need to recruit others into their opinions. They don’t spend their energy into toxic behavior.
Silence speaks volumes. In my opinion, your strongest response is no response at all. Your peace is more important than proving a point, and your character will always speak louder than someone else’s bitterness.
Strong people move forward.
Weak people need an audience.
Repeat that…
Strong people move forward.
Weak people need an audience.
